Ever After

Ever After, an in-progress image.

This is how I work. I gather everything from around my studio that I think might “go” with the piece I’m working on.

Arrange and rearrange. Repeat numerous times.

Walk away. Let the changes sink in.

Maybe even move the piece into my house so I can look at it in a different light. In a different mood. Get feedback from friends who stop by.

Everyone has a story to tell, art is my first language.

Put your feet up

Reasons to your feet up after celebrating all weekend!

A 30-year reunion full of friendship and laughter ~ 150 years of celebrating Laramie ~ 78 years of Jubilee Days ~ Dancin’ in the streets ~ Staying up until the wee hours of the next day with friends you haven’t seen in years

And, because I love any excuse to take a long bath surrounded by tiles I made.

The above photo was taken at night with the ambient light of a candle and this cool light fixture below that I made from an old, glass funnel from my dads’ lab.

Below are the true colors of my bathroom thanks to BHP Imaging.

In tribute to all my friends and classmates during our 30th high school class reunion,

Happy Jubilee! It’s been great to see you all and reconnect.

Water Reflections

These water reflections are the first I captured, leading me to take many, many more, especially after getting a waterproof camera a few years after taking these.

Seeing the curvature of the earth is pretty cool, not something I see too often living in the landlocked state of Wyoming.

The green water…this color just blows me away…

Reflections

Reflections

This is one of my favorite sculptures I have made. I have not spent as much time on sailboats as I would like, so whenever I see them, I reflect on the time I have and dream of being rocked to sleep… This boat is made from an old oak planter that fell apart in my yard. The texture of the wood, the blue glass beads from my trip to Turkey, handmade paper rolled into waves and an old silk shirt are just some of the reclaimed items in this piece.

Chocolate swirls

Chocolate swirls. What a fun surprise when I opened this chocolate bar from New Zealand, a thoughtful birthday gift from a dear friend. I expected to see the familiar little squares of dark chocolate I am accustomed to, but this is so much better! Especially as it reminds me of muddy, high water spring runoff on the river. I am so excited when designers take an extra step to make things beautiful as well as delicious. Thank you for making my day. I wonder what design awaits me on the other bar I have yet to open…

Bumble bees.

Spring in Laramie. The windows and doors are open! For the afternoon anyway… The bees are buzzing around the dandylions, and, as a result of the fragrant, fresh air entering my space, for the first time this spring, I overheard an excited little girl exclaim, “Look! It’s the bumble bee car! Jodie lives here!”
