Flagstone is such a staple near my hometown and an integral part of the many landscapes of my life. I gaze at the granite rock formations of Veedauwoo, finding shapes shifting with the passing sunlight, like looking for shapes in the clouds. Ancient civilizations lived here, and many will live here in the future, building on one another, just as I use relics from the past to create something new in this lifetime. This piece came to light after a trip where I got to crawl around inside an old, abandoned city near Cappadocia region of Turkey where nearly 20,000 people once lived underground.
